About the Role
Weingartner is seeking motivated and technically skilled Service Technicians / Service Engineers to support customers across North America. In this responsible, field-based role, you will help ensure optimal machine availability, smooth production processes, and high customer satisfaction through installation support, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of advanced CNC machine tools.
This position is ideal for someone with strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on service experience, and the ability to work independently while maintaining close communication with customers and headquarters. The role will involve frequent travel during the week, with weekends typically off. Initial onboarding and technical training will take place in Austria.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on Weingärtner CNC machine tools at customer sites.
- Ensure reliable machine operation and support customers in the proper use, maintenance, and optimization of equipment.
- Respond to service calls, evaluate technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Support installations, final acceptance processes, preventative maintenance, repairs, and machine upgrades.
- Work closely with customers, headquarters, service managers, and technical sales teams to ensure strong after-sales support.
- Prepare service reports, visit documentation, technical feedback, and recommendations for improvements or spare parts.
- Build and maintain reliable customer relationships through professional, solution-oriented field support.
- Travel frequently throughout the U.S. and Canada, primarily during the workweek.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with CNC machine tools, precision machinery, measuring equipment, tooling, or related technical service work.
- Strong mechanical knowledge, ideally including machine tools, precision components, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechatronics.
- Experience performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work on CNC-controlled equipment.
- Basic PLC/control knowledge required; programming experience is not required.
- Ability to read and understand technical documentation, mechanical drawings, and service procedures.
- Independent, reliable, customer-oriented working style with strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Willingness to travel approximately 80% across North America.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Siemens, NUM, or similar CNC control systems.
- Technical education or training in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
- Prior field service experience in machine tools, precision equipment, oil & gas machinery, plastics machinery, or other high-precision industrial applications.
- Ability to combine hands-on technical work with customer support, documentation, and relationship management.

Seniority Levels
We are hiring for two positions:
Senior Service Technician / Service Engineer
Ideal for an experienced field service professional with at least 5 years of CNC machine tool, precision machinery, measuring, or related service experience. This person should be comfortable working independently, resolving complex technical issues, and serving as a trusted technical contact for customers.
Junior Service Technician / Service Engineer
Ideal for a technically trained candidate with hands-on mechanical, mechatronics, maintenance, or CNC-related experience who is eager to grow into a field service role. Strong mechanical aptitude, willingness to learn, and comfort with travel are key.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is technically strong, hands-on, dependable, and customer-focused. They enjoy solving complex mechanical and technical challenges, can work independently in the field, and are comfortable traveling extensively during the week. This person should bring a strong service mindset and the ability to represent Weingartner professionally at customer sites across North America.
