Project Sales Engineer

On behalf of one of our international clients, a German manufacturer of advanced packaging machinery, we are seeking a technically strong and customer-focused Project Sales Engineer to support the sales and engineering activities of their North American organization.
This position plays a critical role in developing customized packaging solutions for customers across the food industry, including coffee, candy, snack, and baking manufacturers. Working closely with Regional Sales Managers, customers, and engineering teams in Germany, the Project Sales Engineer will help translate customer requirements into technically sound and commercially viable proposals.

Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Partner with Regional Sales Managers throughout the sales process to develop technical solutions for customers.
- Create and maintain detailed project specifications, proposals, and statements of work.
- Support customer discussions by explaining technical concepts and demonstrating the value of proposed solutions.
- Coordinate directly with customers, internal teams, and German headquarters throughout the project development process.
- Assist in securing project approvals and supporting the transition from sales to execution.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, engineering specifications, and technical records.
- Manage quote requests, proposal tracking, order documentation, and project files.
- Ensure accurate ERP and CRM data entry to support forecasting and project reporting.
- Coordinate project requirements with engineering, operations, accounting, service, and shipping departments.
- Support project accounting activities and timely billing processes.
- Work closely with engineering teams in Germany to define equipment configurations and manufacturing specifications.
- Support project planning activities, including installation, training, and commissioning requirements.
- Facilitate communication between customers and internal stakeholders to ensure project objectives, timelines, and expectations are met.
- Maintain strong collaboration across sales, project management, operations, and service functions.
- Maintain quote logs, project folders, and sales documentation.
- Support CRM management and forecasting activities.
- Assist with ERP project releases and order processing.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of sales support and project management processes.
Candidate profile:
- Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.
- Experience in capital equipment, packaging machinery, automation, manufacturing, or a related industrial environment is preferred.
- Customer-facing experience supporting technical sales, applications engineering, project engineering, or project management activities.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and develop engineered solutions.
- Experience working with ERP and CRM systems; Microsoft Dynamics experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar engineering design software is preferred.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams and international locations.
- Quick learner with a passion for manufacturing, engineering, and problem-solving.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to customer locations and Germany.
