Position Overview

 

The Procurement Manager is responsible for managing approximately $5M in annual spend in a manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on raw material sourcing. This role plays a key part in ensuring continuity of supply, competitive cost structures, and effective supplier relationships. The position combines hands‑on purchasing activities with close collaboration with operations and supply chain teams.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement & Sourcing

 

  • Manage and execute purchasing activities for the Company, including items such as aluminum casting and other manufacturing inputs.
  • Own supplier relationships, including sourcing, pricing discussions, and ongoing performance management.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times with suppliers to support cost control and supply continuity.
  • Manage purchase orders and follow up on deliveries to ensure alignment with production schedules.

 

Spend & Supply Chain Coordination

 

  • Oversee approximately $5M in yearly purchasing spend, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with budget targets.
  • Work closely with production, planning, and supply chain teams to understand demand, forecast material needs, and mitigate supply risks.
  • Support basic supply chain activities, including coordination around inventory levels, lead times, and vendor capacity.

 

Team Supervision

 

  • Provide day‑to‑day guidance and support to one Procurement Associate, ensuring the timely execution of purchasing transactions and adherence to internal procedures.
  • Review work accuracy, support development, and act as a point of escalation when needed.

 

Process & Continuous Improvement

 

  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation and ERP data related to suppliers, pricing, and purchase orders.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to procurement processes, supplier performance, and cost optimization.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

  • 3–7 years of experience in procurement or purchasing within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience procuring raw materials, ideally including metals such as aluminum (casting or similar).
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills, with the ability to work directly with suppliers on pricing and commercial terms.
  • Solid understanding of supply chain fundamentals, including lead times, production planning, and vendor coordination.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar preferred).
  • Previous experience mentoring or supervising junior/associate‑level staff is a plus.

  • Practical, hands‑on procurement mindset
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally with operations and supply chain
  • Attention to detail with a business‑oriented approach
  • Comfortable balancing tactical execution with operational priorities
  • Some traveling is expected within the United States to meet with suppliers.
