Our client is a world leader in the coatings industry and is active, through its different operating business units, in the European, Asian and American continents, with four main divisions: Aerospace, Industrial Gas Turbine, Biomedical, and Equipment.

The role:

 

On behalf of our client, we are searching for an Operations Manager to lead and oversee manufacturing operations, including production planning, logistics, purchasing, and maintenance. The Operations Manager will be responsible for driving operational excellence across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and lean manufacturing initiatives.

The candidate:

 

To be successful in this role, you will be a strong operational leader with the ability to lead cross-functional manufacturing teams, improve processes, and drive operational excellence. You will bring a hands-on approach, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a proven track record of continuous improvement. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across production, supply chain, maintenance, and quality functions is essential, along with the ability to develop high-performing teams and deliver results in a manufacturing environment.

In this role you will :

 

  • Provide leadership of day to day operations of the department in charge: Production, Purchasing & Logistic, Maintenance.
  • Ensure that the business is operated to the highest standards in line with the mission statement and values for the overall success of the company. Ensure each department operates in compliance with all legal requirements (including EHS) and internal corporate procedures.
  • Actively manages and improves the business based on the Key Performance Indicators and trends including safety, quality, delivery, cost and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and adhere to the annual operating and CAPEX budget. Ensure that all departments operate within set budgets and achieve targets with regards to cost control and profit.
  • Proactively develop the management team through coaching, training, and succession planning.
  • Participate in the resolution of corrective actions and verifications of actions implemented
  • Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies to determine appropriate action and to solve a variety of problems.
  • Provide visionary leadership for best in class Materials Management. Ensure JIT, FIFO, Kanban, supply chain management systems are in place and being utilized.
  • Promote Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies to be used throughout the facility.
  • Partner with internal departments, customers, and suppliers to address operational and business challenges.
  • Participate in Root Cause Corrective Action activities to permanently eliminate defects. Utilize 8D and DMAIC approach to problem solving and non-conformances.
  • Adhere to the Company’s Quality and Safety Management System and in accordance with its procedures and requirements.
  • Utilize Lean and Six Sigma methods to drive Key Performance Indicators for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with all company policies, including adherence to good safety practices. Training of personnel.
Required Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the Manufacturing Operations, Quality, or Engineering field. Medical, aerospace, automotive, electronics, or industrial gas turbine industry strongly preferred.
  • A Mechanical, Chemical, or Materials Science Engineer 4-year college degree is preferred, or over 10 years equivalent experience is required.
  • A successful track record of achieving growth and profitability targets in manufacturing operations, including reducing direct/indirect costs while increasing operational efficiency, productivity, and quality.
  • Extensive experience with manufacturing process improvement, including strict budget management, facility enhancement, Total Cycle Time reduction principles, lead time reduction, workflow enhancements, and capacity management planning.
  • Experience, education, and application of manufacturing practices such as Lean, Six Sigma, Total Productive Maintenance, NPI / APQP, and ISO standards are required.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and experience interacting with all levels of customers, including technical managers. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently. Ability to work effectively with people on an individual basis and in a team environment
  • Experience with ERP systems required. Implementation experience is preferred.
  • Position requires experience, initiative, and the ability to work independently to produce the highest level of quality and productivity against established standards. Self-­ motivated and multi-task oriented
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
