Inventory & Logistics Manager

A growing aerospace manufacturer with active DoD programs is building its operations infrastructure from the ground up. The Inventory & Logistics Manager will own the full materials ecosystem -inventory control, warehouse operations, inbound/outbound logistics, and export compliance -in an AS9100-regulated environment. U.S. citizenship is required. ITAR/EAR compliance is a core operational responsibility.
This role demands a hands-on operator, not a planner. You will physically redesign warehouse layout, personally govern cycle count programs, and lead physical inventory events. Candidates with planning-heavy or systems-only backgrounds will not be competitive.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Warehouse Operations & Physical Inventory Control
- Own large-scale warehouse operations end-to-end -layout design, storage optimization, and physical reorganization as production scales
- Lead and personally govern cycle count programs: methodology, cadence, execution, and variance disposition
- Direct physical inventory events with full accountability for count accuracy and reconciliation
- Ensure FIFO discipline, lot/serial traceability, and an audit-ready environment under OSHA, ISO, and AS9100
- Direct daily operations: receiving, stocking, picking, issuing, kitting, and staging to the production floor -zero tolerance for production downtime from material shortages
Inventory Accuracy & Control
- Drive inventory accuracy through root cause analysis on all variances; own CAPA closure
- Monitor MRP/ERP transactions in real time; enforce location and quantity data integrity
- Partner with Supply Chain, Production, Engineering, and Quality on material availability and traceability
- Manage excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory through structured disposition
Shipping, Receiving & Export Compliance
- Manage all domestic and international freight: cost, compliance, and on-time performance
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers under EAR/ITAR regulations
- Ensure documentation accuracy: BOLs, packing slips, export authorizations, certs of conformance
Team Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Lead material handlers, warehouse associates, and shipping/receiving personnel
- Own Lean/5S initiatives; develop and report KPIs: inventory accuracy, on-time shipments, line-side delivery
- Support internal and external audits; own corrective action closure
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 5+ years of hands-on warehouse and inventory management in a manufacturing or assembly environment -execution-heavy background required; planning-only profiles will not be considered
- Demonstrated ownership of large warehouse operations including physical redesign, layout optimization, and scaling
- Personal governance of cycle count programs and physical inventory processes -not oversight, ownership
- ERP/MRP hands-on experience at the management level -QAD, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent
- Experience managing domestic and international freight, export documentation, and customs coordination
- Direct team leadership over warehouse or material handling personnel
- U.S. citizenship required -ITAR-controlled environment
Preferred
- Aerospace, aviation, or DoD supply chain background under AS9100 or ISO9001
- Direct EAR/ITAR export compliance experience
- Greenfield or ramp-up manufacturing environment experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Operations Management (equivalent experience considered)
WHY THIS ROLE
This is not a caretaker position. You will design and build the materials infrastructure for a scaling aerospace manufacturer with active DoD programs. If you have owned a warehouse operation from the floor up -not managed a system someone else built -this is worth a conversation.
