The company

 

Our client is the North American subsidiary of a global leader in fluid handling solutions for fuel transfer, DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid), and fluid management systems. Based in Fort Lauderdale, our client is recognized as a market leader in DEF dispensing solutions.

 

The role:

 

On behalf of our client, we are searching for a Financial Controller. The Financial Controller is a hands-on leader responsible for the company’s end-to-end accounting and controlling activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and timely insights to support decision-making. This role partners closely with the CEO and leadership team to drive performance, improve processes, and support strategic initiatives.

 

The candidate:

 

The ideal candidate is a high‑energy, hands‑on, data-driven Financial Controller with strong business acumen, capable of acting as a business partner to the CEO and translating financial data into strategic insight.

International experience and prior exposure to reporting to a foreign headquarters are a plus.

 

The responsibilities:

Financial Leadership & Business Partnership

  • Serve as a true Business Partner to the CEO, providing proactive, data-driven insights to support strategic and operational decisions.
  • Support pricing, margin, and profitability analyses; evaluate investments and business cases.
  • Drive continuous improvement across reporting, planning, and cross-functional processes.

 

Controlling, Accounting, & Financial Reporting

  • Supervises a team of three (AP/AR oversight, accruals, fixed assets, month-end etc.)
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close; ensure accuracy, timeliness, and consistency.
  • Prepare and present monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and management reporting packages.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable standards (e.g., US GAAP) and company policies.
  • Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting cycles; partner with department heads to build assumptions.
  • Monitor performance vs. budget/forecast; analyze variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate external audits and support requests from auditors and financial stakeholders.
  • Oversee tax compliance activities in coordination with external CPA/advisors (federal, state, sales/use tax as applicable).
  • Ensure compliance with local statutory, banking, and regulatory requirements.

 

Treasury & Working Capital

  • Manage cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning; optimize working capital (AR, AP, inventory).

 

Systems, Data & Process Improvement

 

  • Ensure integrity of financial data SAP and reporting tools, lead improvements to workflows and controls.
  • Drive standardization and documentation of processes (close calendar, reconciliations, approvals, reporting cadence).

 

Human Resources

 

  • Coordinate payroll processing and benefits administration processes with external payroll provider (ADP).
  • Maintain HR-related files and documentation ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
  • Supports managers with recruiting activities.
  • Assist with onboarding/offboarding administration (forms, system access coordination, checklist completion).

 

Qualifications & Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 7-10+ years of progressive accounting/controlling experience; prior Controller/Accounting Manager experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial close/reporting requirements.
  • Experience with budgeting/forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting.
  • Strong Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Ability to work independently in a hands-on environment and manage deadlines with high accuracy.
  • Prior exposure and experience reporting to a foreign-based HQ is a huge plus.
