Position Overview
Following an intensive onboarding and training period, the Field Service Technician will work independently within the U.S. service organization to install, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair advanced strapping systems, strapping heads, and robotic equipment at customer sites.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role for a skilled technician who enjoys solving complex mechanical and electromechanical problems, traveling to industrial facilities, and taking ownership of service assignments from preparation through completion. The technician will also train machine operators, support long-term customer relationships, and participate in the on-call service rotation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and technical service on strapping systems, strapping heads, and robotic equipment.
- Diagnose faults and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to restore equipment safely and efficiently.
- Complete internal and on-site assembly, installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing of strapping systems and robotic installations.
- Prepare service and installation assignments in advance, including tools, documentation, spare parts, and site requirements.
- Document work performed, findings, corrective actions, and follow-up recommendations after each assignment.
Customer Support and Training
- Provide responsive technical support and practical consultation to customers.
- Train machine operators and maintenance personnel on safe operation, routine maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
- Communicate clearly with customer contacts throughout each service visit and help build trusted, long-term relationships.
- Identify additional service, maintenance, repair, or spare-parts needs and communicate them to the appropriate internal team.
Travel and Service Coverage
- Travel extensively to customer locations throughout the United States and, when required, internationally.
- Support both planned assignments and urgent service needs with a high degree of flexibility.
- Participate in the on-call service rotation.
Candidate Profile
- Technical qualification or vocational training as a Mechatronics Technician, Industrial Mechanic, Toolmaker, or in a comparable technical profession.
- Hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, or commissioning industrial machinery or automated equipment.
- Practical experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems is an advantage.
- Ability to read and work from technical documentation, drawings, manuals, and service instructions.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, both nationally and internationally.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to complete service documentation accurately.
