Customer Portfolio Manager

North America is a core growth pillar for Variosystems. The region is headquartered in Southlake, Texas, with a major production footprint in Juárez, Mexico, and Southlake, Texas, and is expected to grow from approximately USD 90M in revenue in 2026 to USD 120M in 2027, with further ambitious expansion plans beyond.
Role:
The Customer Portfolio Manager is responsible for leading an assigned customer portfolio and the associated Customer Success Team. The role combines customer relationship ownership, team leadership, financial accountability, program oversight, and execution discipline.
The Customer Success Team functions as a “mini business unit” within Variosystems North America. The Customer Portfolio Manager is expected to manage the assigned portfolio with a strong focus on revenue, profitability, cash flow, customer satisfaction, and operational performance.
Scope & Organizational Leadership:
The Customer Portfolio Manager leads a team of approximately 8 professionals, with the team expected to grow to around 10. The team includes:
- Customer Success Managers
- Customer Buyers / strategic procurement professionals
- Technical Program Managers
The assigned portfolio currently represents approximately USD 40M in business and is expected to grow significantly, potentially reaching approximately USD 60M next year.
The role reports within the North America Customer Organization and works closely with regional leadership, business development, engineering services, sourcing, quality, finance, marketing, and operations.
Key responsibilities:
Customer Relationship Management
- Manage assigned customer relationships and act as a key interface for customer needs, priorities, and escalations.
- Analyze and evaluate existing business processes, customer relationships, and portfolio performance.
- Identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and risks within the assigned customer portfolio.
- Ensure customer expectations are communicated internally, and that Variosystems’ execution standards are clearly represented externally.
P&L Responsibilities & KPI Management
- Own the financial performance of the assigned customer portfolio, including net sales, profitability, contribution margin, cash flow, and related performance indicators.
- Monitor KPI performance across the portfolio and individual customers.
- Recommend changes to improve efficiency, profitability, customer satisfaction, and execution discipline.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to drive process improvements and corrective actions where needed.
Leadership, Coaching & Management
- Lead, coach, and develop the Customer Success Team.
- Support employee lifecycle management, team development, learning, and knowledge sharing.
- Create clarity around roles, responsibilities, priorities, and decision paths within the team.
- Foster accountability, communication, and collaboration across functions.
Risk & Performance Management
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with customer relationships, program execution, profitability, and delivery performance.
- Track portfolio and customer performance against established KPIs and goals.
- Drive issue resolution and escalation management in close collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Ensure timely and transparent communication with customers and internal leadership.
Analytics & Trends
- Analyze customer and portfolio data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customer requirements, industry trends, and portfolio developments.
- Leverage business intelligence and digital tools such as Qlik and SAP to support decision-making and performance transparency.

- Helping Variosystems North America scale within the global Variosystems operating model.

Candidate background:
Variosystems is seeking a customer-focused business leader with strong EMS or contract manufacturing experience, commercial acumen, and the ability to lead a team in a hands-on, customer-facing environment. The preferred background includes:
- Experience in electronics manufacturing services (EMS), contract manufacturing, or a similarly complex industrial / technical service environment.
- Demonstrated ownership of customer portfolios, key accounts, programs, or business units.
- Strong understanding of OEM customer expectations, outsourcing models, industrialization, and lifecycle management.
- Experience managing revenue, profitability, margin, cash flow, KPIs, and portfolio performance.
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams, ideally including customer success, program management, procurement/buying, or technical program functions.
- Strong customer orientation, communication skills, negotiation ability, conflict management, and stakeholder management.
- Structured, pragmatic, data-driven mindset with the ability to improve processes and drive accountability.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, growing, international organization while aligning with global standards and operating models.
- Relevant experience using IT and business intelligence tools such as SAP, Qlik, CRM systems, or similar platforms.
