Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead our Richmond operations. This hands-on role oversees a team of 30–40 employees across 2 shifts in a stable, specialized environment focused on yarn processing (twisting, assembly, and overlay finishes) and distribution/warehousing. You will drive operational excellence by improving key metrics like on-time delivery, scrap reduction, and minimization of off-quality product. Reporting directly to the US General Manager, you’ll balance day-to-day execution with continuous improvement in a collaborative, customer-focused culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead site operations, including yarn manufacturing/processing, quality assurance, maintenance, warehousing, inventory management, and shipping/logistics.
- Build and maintain structured processes, workflows, and accountability to support consistent performance and scalability.
- Drive targeted improvements in on-time delivery, scrap rates, off-quality reduction, and overall efficiency/yield in fiber processing and coating operations.
- Ensure full compliance with safety standards (OSHA), quality systems, and environmental regulations related to coatings and fiber handling.
- Manage and develop a team of supervisors, operators, quality technicians, maintenance staff, and warehouse personnel; foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs); implement lean principles or other tools to eliminate waste and enhance throughput.
- Partner with the US General Manager and leadership on on-site goals, budgeting, and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree (BS preferred in Engineering, Textile Technology, Operations Management, or related field).
- 8+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, including at least 5 years in plant/operations management.
- Proven track record leading teams of 20–50+ in a processing or manufacturing environment.
- Strong focus on operational structure, process discipline, and metrics-driven improvements.
Preferred:
- Experience in technical textiles, yarn operations, fiber processing, twisting/coating/finishing, or chemical/textile value-added manufacturing.
- Familiarity with high-performance fibers (e.g., aramids, UHMWPE/Dyneema®, Vectran®) or similar industrial yarn applications.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
