Privacy Policy for LinkedIn Company Checker

Last updated: June 2025

  1. Introduction
LinkedIn Company Checker (“the Extension”) is a Chrome browser extension developed for internal use by YER USA Inc. to help recruiters and business‐development teams identify “off-limits” employer names on LinkedIn pages. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Extension accesses, how it’s used, and your rights.

  1. Information the Extension Accesses
  • LinkedIn Page Content (in-browser, client-side only). The Extension reads the current page’s DOM to locate job titles, company names, and date ranges marked “– Present.”
  • Configuration Data. On each page load, the Extension fetches a CSV from a Google Sheets URL you control (e.g. docs.google.com/…/export?format=csv) and a local aliases.json file packaged in the Extension. These contain your “off-limits” companies and synonyms.
  • No Personal Data Collection. The Extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII), browsing history, or user credentials. All matching and warning injection happen entirely in your browser.

  1. How Information Is Used
  • The Extension uses the restricted-company list and alias map to detect and highlight when a profile’s current employer matches or partially matches your “off-limits” entries.
  • It inserts warning messages and optional copy-to-clipboard icons into the page.
  • Under no circumstances does it send LinkedIn profile data back to any server or third party.

  1. Data Storage and Retention
  • In-Memory Only. All data (restrictedList, aliasMap, displayMap) lives in memory within the Extension and is cleared when you close your browser tab.
  • No Persistent Local Storage. The Extension does not use chrome.storage or cookies to retain user or page data.

  1. Third-Party Services
  • The only remote request the Extension makes is to your published Google Sheet CSV URL. No data from LinkedIn or inferred user data is sent to Google.
  • You are responsible for ensuring that your Google Sheet’s sharing settings comply with your organization’s data policies.

  1. Security
  • All matching logic and data handling occur in-browser.
  • No credentials or session cookies are read or transmitted.
  • If you discover a security issue, please report it to contact@yer.com

  1. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in functionality or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date will indicate the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
