Our client, InFors HT, is seeking a Technical Procurement Manager for its production facility in Annapolis Junction, MD to support their N.A. customers. Founded in 1965 in Switzerland, InFors is a leading global manufacturer of bioreactors, shaker incubators, and bioprocess control software biotech industry. As Technical Procurement Manager, you will manage and improve upon demand flow processes, as well as manage inventory to ensure parts and materials for manufacturing are in place in day-to-day operations. The candidate we are looking for needs to have robust experience in procuring electronic and mechanical components for a manufacturer along with inventory management. Your strong analytical- and problem-solving skills and outstanding time management for on-time delivery and lead times will be keys to your success in this position. You will work closely with the VP of Manufacturing as well as other managers to forecast demand for materials, cost-development of materials, identify new vendors, and analyze production cost and capacity improvements. Responsibilities
- Place orders, track deliveries, and manage vendor relationships
- Manage and control inventory levels
- Review technical documents together with the engineering team, and create business opportunities with existing sources while also seeking new sources
- Direct the development of materials procurement and supply – enhance the supplier base and ensure alignment with global sourcing and supply needs
- Work closely with the VP of Manufacturing as well as other managers to forecast materials demand, identify new vendors, and evaluate cost and production capacity improvements
- Schedule and lead the MRB meetings while focusing on continuous improvement and world-class performance
- Represent procurement as a key team member to support global manufacturing initiatives, and provide insight and direction for the company
- Measure and report key performance metrics: PPV, EAU, on-time delivery performance, RFQ response time, MRB deliverable, and shortages
What We Expect from You
Your experience & education
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, or a related field
- 5 years of purchasing experience within biotechnology or a related field
- Experience purchasing electronic and mechanical components with a basic ability to read technical documents/drawings
- Manufacturing procurement and inventory management experience
- In-depth knowledge of preparing, reviewing, and negotiating complex contracts
- Proficient in ERP systems, Microsoft GP is a plus
- Experience with continuous improvement and supplier development activities
