About the Position

As Sales Director – Ferries, you will have the exciting opportunity to develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance Kongsberg Maritime’s position in the passenger ferry market across North America. The ideal candidate will possess a robust North American maritime industry network, exceptional strategic skills, and the ability to influence key stakeholders. This remote position reports directly to the VP of Sales and Marketing in North America and requires sufficient travel to satisfy the role’s responsibilities. Your responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance Kongsberg Maritime’s position in the passenger ferry market across North America
  • Create and execute comprehensive marketing and branding strategies that highlight their unique capabilities in energy solutions, operational optimization, hybrid and electric propulsion, deck machinery, and automation and controls
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify opportunities for differentiation and growth
  • Represent Kongsberg Maritime at key industry conferences, exhibitions, and events to build and maintain strong industry relationships
  • Participate in industry associations, committees, and working groups to influence industry standards and promote their technological advancements
  • Network with industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to enhance their visibility and thought leadership
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve annual order intake targets
  • Collaborate across departments to identify and pursue new business opportunities and key accounts
  • Prepare and present tailored solutions to shipowners, yards, and designers, highlighting the benefits of Kongsberg Maritime’s products and solutions
  • Lead contract negotiations, manage technical scopes, and prepare quotations as needed

 

What We Expect from You

Your Work Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 7 years of sales experience in the maritime industry, a previous focus on electrical and energy solutions is preferred
  • Proven track record of successful sales and marketing strategies in the maritime sector
  • Strong network within the maritime industry, particularly in the passenger ferry segment
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to analyze complex technical information and translate it into compelling value propositions
  • Understanding of system delivery and commissioning at shipyards is a plus
  • Knowledge of passenger vessel funding, grant frameworks, and key industry trends in the US is preferred
