On behalf of our client, a world leader in the production of sweet products in the Private Label market segment and a global player in semi-finished products for industrial bakeries, we are currently looking for a Purchasing Agent.

Company

Our client is a renowned international company with a branch in North Carolina. For 30 years, our client has been growing exponentially and is currently present all over Europe and in 30 countries around the world. The North Carolina plant currently employs 35 people. The company focuses on quality from raw materials to finished products. The quality and safety of these products are constantly assured and thoroughly monitored within their internal laboratory, but the company also performs and relies on external laboratories. Our client’s efforts, attention, and strong focus allowed the company to reach great quality products and become a leader in the Private Label market.

Position

The person in this role is responsible for driving strategic procurement activities, evaluating existing and new suppliers, negotiating supplier contracts, and managing supplier relationships within their assigned categories. Will be responsible for implementing General Purchasing best practices within the North America Area, under the direction of the CEO.

  • Lead and execute sourcing activities for assigned categories while maintaining compliance with company guidelines.
  • Analyze and monitor market trends, supplier landscape, and innovation/trends for respective categories
  • Ensure proper alignment with internal customers on business needs
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure maximum value while taking into consideration TCO (total cost of ownership), service, and quality
  • Build supplier relationships that generate value for both our client and the suppliers over time
  • Manage and maintain relationships with suppliers, optimizing the company’s suppliers’ base
  • Collaborate and support the central procurement team in executing strategic sourcing activities for categories assigned
  • Manage and maintain supplier financial analysis and performance
  • Manage and maintain contract coverage inclusive of measuring and improving their utilization
  • Track and monitor efficiencies reached on categories managed
  • Implement and ensure compliance with Group/Local Policies and Procedures and ensure Process Governance
  • Support Purchase Order Management and Vendor Data Management activities as required
  • Manage internal stocks (regular and safety stock), inbounds of all materials from the USA and other countries across the world

 

Profile

  • Professional Certification (CPM, CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, CIPS, and similar) is preferred
  • Minimum 4-7 years of experience in strategic sourcing and procurement
  • Previous experience in procurement and supply chain field (at least 5 years in the role) and with international wholesaler – GDO
  • Mastery of purchasing techniques: negotiating skills, RFI, RFQ, budgeting, market analysis, risk management, price management
  • Legal knowledge in the drafting of standard documents: orders, contracts, commercial law
  • Strong knowledge of advanced analysis in Excel (eg. vlookup, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Experience in a cross-cultural/international organization is preferred.
  • Able to effectively communicate and implement change with internal budget owners, peers, senior management, and suppliers.
  • Ability to work under pressure; multi-tasker; manages time effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships.
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong attention to detail.
