About the job

Digatron is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join their US team in Shelton, CTCon. The ideal candidate will manage the company’s financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis. The Controller will play a key role in driving the financial success of our organization by providing strategic financial insights and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. He or she is responsible for the financial accuracy and reporting systems of the organization. This is also a great opportunity for someone currently looking to move from a public firm to a Controllership function

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage the financial reporting process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to establish financial goals.
  • Monitor actual performance against budgets, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and manage working capital effectively.

Cost Accounting & Analysis:

  • Oversee cost accounting processes, ensuring accurate tracking of production costs and inventory valuation.
  • Job Costing and Process Costing: conduct financial analysis to support decision-making related to pricing, product development, and capital investments.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives across the organization.

Compliance & Audits:

  • Ensure compliance with all financial and tax regulations, including GAAP, IRS, and state regulations.
  • Coordinate and manage external audits, preparing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
  • Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial records.
  • Manage risk on insurance, tax payments, credit policies

Team Leadership:

  • Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support overall business objectives.

Strategic Planning:

  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Participate in business development initiatives, evaluating financial impacts and risks.
  • Contribute to the long-term financial planning and growth strategy of the company.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (MBA preferred, but not necessary).
  • CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 2 years in a management role.
  • Finance & Accounting  all-rounder
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP (IFRS is a plus), cost accounting, and financial analysis.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus, preferably within the battery or technology sector.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal with team, peers and upper management
