Starsprings is seeking a sales- and marketing-driven Managing Director to lead and develop Starsprings’ business in the United States. About the Position

This is a great opportunity for a forward-thinking Managing Director to join a dynamic and rapidly growing company that’s leading the way globally in its niche industry. You’ll be responsible for driving collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders while building processes and operations to optimize organizational success. You will lead from the front, empowering and motivating your team while overseeing operations and driving strategy—nationally and locally. We expect you to have a solid commercial background from a manufacturing environment along with significant experience in scaling operations. Your ability to build value by developing new relationships and strengthening existing relationships with Starsprings’ end customers, dealers, partners, employees, and stakeholders will be keys to your and the company’s success. With your confident business acumen, you understand trends and market opportunities and can translate them into actionable business plans. This role reports directly to the group CEO at the HQ in Sweden. It’s a hybrid remote position based at the company’s US HQ in Martinsville, VA. Travel of up 30% of the time is to be expected, some international.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities 
Operations & General Management

  • Manage the company’s resources and workforce development, ensuring best practices in recruiting, retaining, training, and motivating talent to optimize results.
  • Develop and implement the strategic plan to achieve the company mission, vision, and objectives.
  • Prepare and manage annual business plan and budget, oversee sales activity plans, and take responsibility for the overall financial performance
  • Meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales and operational targets based on key performance metrics.
  • Oversee the preparation of the Annual Report and Accounts of the company and ensure their approval by the Board.
  • Oversee and continuously strive to improve product quality and operational efficiencies to ensure the best possible quality of products and service to customers
  • Review and analyze activities, production and operation costs, sales operations, and forecast data to determine company progress toward set goals and objectives
  • Provide strategic advice to the CEO of Starsprings AB and the Board and inform them on key industry developments so that appropriate policies are developed to meet the Company’s mission and objectives while complying with all relevant laws and regulations
  • Establish and cultivate solid relationships with major customers, relevant government departments and agencies, local authorities, key decision-makers, and other stakeholders.
  • Represent the company in negotiations with customers, suppliers, government departments, and other key contacts to secure the most effective contract terms for the company.
  • Be an ambassador for the company in the local community by developing and maintaining effective marketing and public relations strategy to promote the company’s products, services, and image.
  • Develop, promote, direct, and implement equal opportunities policies in all aspects of the company’s work.
  • Develop, direct, and implement policies and procedures to ensure that the Company complies with all health and safety and other statutory regulations.

Sales & Marketing 

  • Lead the sales teams to achieve profitable sales and growth goals for existing and new customers
  • Promote a business culture and environment where sales and end-customer service come first
  • Lead and expand collaboration and business with key customers and dealer networks.
  • Ensure that Starsprings retain its competitive edge and leading market position by keeping informed on industry news and trends, products, services, competitors, relevant information about legacy, existing, and emerging technologies, and the latest product-line developments.
  • Assess market data and implement sales strategies; identify business opportunities, and new product offerings, and pinpoint problem areas.

What We Expect from You
Your Work Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, or related field; master’s degree preferred
  • 5-10 years of proven management experience in a similar position in an industrial or manufacturing setting
  • Proven experience with P&L responsibility in complex business settings
  • Experience in building and scaling modern operations while upholding compliance with corporate laws and regulations and best management practices
  • Proven experience in branding, marketing, media, public relations, and product and market positioning
  • Impressive business acumen and in-depth knowledge of various business functions, operations, and processes (sales & marketing, customer service, logistics, supply chain, finance)
  • Understanding of and ability to merge the best-of-the-best of American business culture with a forward-thinking and entrepreneurial Swedish business environment
  • Comfortable with technology & proficient in MS Office 365 Suite and various business software (e.g. ERP, CRM)
