Financial Controller

Position Summary
The Finance Controller maximizes operating results through finance, accounting, and institutional financing oversight. The Finance Controller will be part of the leadership team of CUBI, working closely with production, supply chain, and commercial groups. The Finance Controller will oversee and report critical financial metrics by providing ongoing updates and recommended courses of action to such results and support on execution. The Finance Controller will ensure that administrative processes related to accounting are effective and comply with the controls in place to ensure fair representation of financial information. This role is not specifically responsible for income taxes, legal compliance, insurance, information technology, or purchasing (including customs).
Key Responsibilities
- Directing aspects of accounting and finance operations, overseeing all transactions related to the general ledger and financial reporting, and maintaining high accuracy.
- Analyzing the company’s financial results for profits, trends, costs, and budget compliance. Issue regular reporting and ad hoc analysis to senior management
- Developing and maintaining all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting. Ensuring that records are kept per generally accepted accounting principles.
- Assisting the senior leadership team in financial planning and results management. Work with other team members to understand revenue and cost drivers and define appropriate reports for tracking
- Oversee maintenance and accuracy of BOMs, standard costs, and inventory control, management reporting, and reconciliation. Ensure proper processes and procedures are in place and manage cost savings initiatives to drive margin.
- Coordinating, preparing, and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Other finance and administrative duties as required, such as supporting internal and external audits, investment analysis, and capital NPV reviews.
Pivotal Experience & Expertise
- 5+ years of managerial accounting and financial management experience
- Experience working in a growing start-up environment is strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Master’s degree preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize, and meet
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities & deadlines
- Experience working with Power BI, Plex, or Just Foods ERP system
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Understanding of a consumer goods business, preferably within the food industry
- Desire to be part of a business-minded finance team supporting the growth of new categories and brands
- Food Service / Retail Industry Experience: brings a thorough yet modern approach to food services and/or retail, ideally a proven and well-respected entity in the grocery and/or food manufacturing industry.
