Field Service Engineer

To support their fast-growing US based office, our client is currently seeking to fill the position of Mechanical Field Service Engineer specialized in automation for fillers and blowers.
This is a remote position. Our client is located in Norcross, Georgia. Due to travel requirements, all remote candidates will be considered.
General Job Description:
The Field Service Engineer shall provide technical (electrical, PLC programming, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic) support to customers in North America. The position requires travel up to 90% and weekend travel is sometimes but not often required. The position also requires independent logical thinking, willingness to be a team player, accurate reporting of service work and documentation, and to work efficiently with little or no supervision with strong communications skills.
The successful candidate will have the following requirements:
Key responsibilities:
- Perform a complete on site customer machine installation and start up
- Diagnose technical problems and provide customers with resolution
- Diagnose complex technical problems and perform on-site repair
- Communicate effectively with customers and company team members
- Document in detail problem resolution
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic components.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair Allen Bradley, Siemens, or B&R programmable logic control systems.
- Ability to train operators and maintenance personnel on machine operations, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance
- Ability to work with little or no supervision
- Occasionally other duties outside the service department as needed
- Willingness to travel overseas for training (primarily France, Italy, or Canada)
Future Growth
Our client is looking for someone willing to work as a Mechanical Field Service Engineer over the next 3-5 years.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 2-year technology or engineering degree is preferred but not required.
- 3 – 5 years of experience as a field service engineer with automated machinery
- Strong ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical and automation issues with filler and blower machinery.
- Ability to understand and navigate through PLC and servo motor drive control software
- Knowledge of PLC programming
- Ability to comprehend and demonstrate mechanical assembly and troubleshooting techniques
- Ability to perform manual assembly of basic machine components and or subassemblies
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
- Ability to effectively communicate in writing using written text, mechanical and electrical drawings, diagrams and machine schematics to describe a problem or suggested improvements
- Must have a valid passport or be eligible to obtain one
- 100% travel, primary focus on installations and in field service work
