Engineering Manager – Automotive

We are currently seeking an Engineering Manager for one of our international clients in the Memphis, TN area. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and hands-on individual with a unique blend of machining operations, engineering, and project management experience.

Job Description

In the role of Engineering Manager, you will join our client’s leadership team and help drive their young plant operations towards continued growth and success. You will have the chance to manage projects within the automotive industry assuming responsibility for project planning and development. Additionally, you will continuously build up a team of Project Engineers and provide on-site direction to ensure completion of duties. Your determination to develop strong relationships with customers, combined with your hands-on project management skills and your ability to develop, manage and motivate internal team members are key drivers for successful project completion and outstanding customer satisfaction. In this role you will report directly to the Executive Vice President of Operations.

  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the Crankshaft Manufacturing processes.
  • Provide day to day direction to Project Engineers to ensure all project tasks are completed in accordance with specifications.
  • Support customer technical reviews as required by Executive Vice President of Operations.
  • Understand contractual deliverables as they relate to assigned projects.
  • Identify potential risks and develop executable risk mitigation plan.
  • Provide input on Project Open Issues Matrix and Gantt Charts.
  • Perform schedule variance analysis.
  • Develop templates, training, and documentation of projects.
  • Identify, plan for, and implement cost reduction and/ or quality improvement initiatives based on product, productivity and/ or process improvements throughout the project life time.
  • Understand process documentation and customer specific requirements as they relate to the program.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Degree or equivalent relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience with machine/system integrations in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of Supervisory/Management experience.
  • Proven project management skills leading product launches
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiar with tooling, fixturing, and CNC equipment/operations
  • Computer literate with skills in CAD and all Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working in the automotive industry and familiarity with OEM requirements is preferred.


Our client is a leading international Tier I manufacturer and supplier of crankshafts for the automotive and transportation industry with its global headquarters in Germany. In 2016 the company opened their first state-of-the art, fully automated crankshaft manufacturing plant in the Memphis, TN area. Currently, the North American subsidiary employs about 90 people with an investment plan in place to break ground on their second facility and grow to about 300 employees within the next three to five years.
