What You’ll Be Doing

This is a fantastic opportunity for a contemporary Director of Operations to further strengthen Ålö’s leading position in North America. The ideal candidate will bring his/her robust experience in operating a state-of-the art plant along with passion for logistics and supply chain excellence. The role is responsible for the full scope of operations within the manufacturing facility, including: Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Warehousing, Logistics, Transport, Environmental Health and Safety. The Director of Operations will facilitate and direct the continuous improvement of the Plant’s operational performance as it relates to profitability, quality, productivity, on-time delivery, cost controls, people development and culture. This role reports directly to the Global COO of Operation at Ålö’s HQ in Sweden.  Travel of up 15-20% of the time is required, some international.

Main priorities for this role include:

  • Finalizing the production transfer from the old manufacturing plant
  • Developing the new plant into a Best in Class facility
  • Improve overall supply-chain planning
  • Optimizing operations of Warehousing, Logistics and Transport to increase delivery of service with short lead-times
  • Driving further implementation of Lean to build a foundation for continuous improvement
  • Strengthening collaboration between Design and Purchasing to engineer lower manufacturing cost
  • Pro-actively contribute to building a high performing team at the Greenville Plant as well as contributing to the development of the global Ålö Group Operations Team
  • Ensuring a safe work environment by meeting and exceeding environmental, health, and safety requirements and goals.
  • Participate in Global Operations Leadership team, led by COO. Collaboration and best practice sharing to build operational excellence

What We Expect from You

Your Work Experience & Education:

Must Haves:

  • BA or BS technical degree. MBA preferred
  • 5+ years of plant management experience
  • Experience in one or more manufacturing disciplines, i.e. manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, quality, logistics, and/or product engineering
  • Proven track record in directing a plant or a supply-chain function resulting in a successful turnaround, ramp-up, or start up
  • Experience in developing and implementing business strategies, budgets, projects to optimize organizational success
  • Proficient in Lean, Kaizen projects, continuous improvement, ISO 9000/9002, JIT, work cells, etc.
  • Experience from working in a multi-cultural, international company
