Position Overview
We are seeking a Director of Finance for our client—a fast-growing international company that’s paving the way in its niche category of toys that they manufacture and sell directly and via different distribution channels in the U.S. The company offers an impressive variety of off-the-shelf and customized products to its different customer segments. Our client has ambitious growth goals and an essential drive to exceed expectations.
As Director of Finance, you will be leading the daily execution of accounting and financial tasks across the group’s three U.S. offices; including supporting sales and operations with accurate metrics to track the company goals. To be successful in this role you need to be strategic, tactical, and hands-on and enjoy a fast-paced international environment built on honesty, teamwork, agility, and integrity. We expect you to be comfortable working in small teams in an international matrix organization.
This position is based in the greater Fort Lauderdale area and requires frequent travel to Atlanta. You will report directly to the Group CFO in Europe and will act as the US subject matter expert and US extension of the group’s financial leadership. You’ll be a local US management team member and part of the global finance management team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide the leadership team with monthly qualitative and quantitative financial analyses.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Maintain, review, and report on short-term cash forecasts, long-term financial pro forma forecasts, and actual results compared to budgeted plans.
- Drive preparation of the US annual budget process.
- Advise on and ensure compliance with tax, audit, legal, and other financial regulations (e.g., employee benefits, payroll taxes, debt covenants, various insurances, etc.)
- Oversee the operational execution and accuracy and controls of invoicing, A/R collections, revenue reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and A/P procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP accounting standards.
- Maintaining a system of internal controls over accounting transactions
- Ensure relevant governance for all financial transactions.
What We Expect from You
Your Work Experience & Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. MBA is a plus
- Min 10 years of progressive financial, accounting, and business experience of which at least 5 years in a controller-level position.
- Min of 5 years of proven experience in managing and leading a multi-location finance team
- Solid understanding of GAAP reporting standards
- Experience in wholesale and import business is a big plus.
- Master-level skills in Excel and working knowledge of IT systems and tools to support accounting operations.
- Experience in working with auditors for year-end reporting.
- In-depth knowledge of various business functions along with solid experience in continuous improvement
- Experience working in a matrix organization in an international group setting.
