Our client is the worldwide leader in membrane treatment and the recovery of biogas from the methanation of organic waste. With a unique expertise built over 30 years of experience, a team committed to environmental values, and a unified approach, the Group provides turnkey solutions to tackle the sustainable energy challenges in renewable energy and green mobility markets.
We operate in four interdependent industrial fields: biogas purification, green mobility (Bio-LNG), CO2 liquefaction, and after-sales service (maintenance, training, etc.). In 2021, we achieved $120 million in sales and had 350 employees across seven countries.
Our client has already made its footprint in North America with 20+ projects in construction, a local team based in Schaumburg, IL, and a solid experience in the treatment and upgrading of Biogas from the Anaerobic Digestion of organic waste.
The team is now looking for its new Business Developer with a simple mission: to spread the word on our client’s added value and successes to gain new biogas upgrading projects.
What you’ll be doing
Referring to the Managing Director, North America, you’ll oversee:
- Market Mapping & Segmentation
- Identify and categorize key market segments: agricultural digesters, landfill gas operators, wastewater treatment plants, industrial emitters, and RNG project developers.
- Build a comprehensive database of potential clients and partners in each segment.
- Prioritize targets based on project maturity, investment capacity, and alignment with company solutions.
- Lead Generation & Qualification
- Define and execute a comprehensive lead generation plan, including a lunch & learn with a large audience of end clients, project developers, waste producers, engineering firms, and gas utility companies.
- Generate a minimum of 20 qualified leads per month through cold outreach, networking, and inbound marketing collaboration.
- Maintain an up-to-date CRM with detailed notes, contact history, and next steps.
- Outreach Strategy & Execution
- Launch targeted outreach campaigns via email, LinkedIn, and phone to introduce company offerings.
- Schedule and conduct initial discovery calls to understand client needs and present tailored solutions.
- Attend and actively participate in industry events, trade shows, and webinars to expand network and visibility.
- Partnership Development
- Identify and engage with engineering firms, EPC contractors, and technology integrators who can act as multipliers.
- Build strategic alliances with utilities, gas pipeline operators, and CO₂ off-takers.
- Develop co-marketing or co-development initiatives with selected partners.
- Sales Funnel Optimization
- Track Sales KPI and build upon them to improve sales processes.
- Analyze reasons for lost opportunities and refine messaging and targeting accordingly.
- Collaborate with marketing and technical teams to improve pitch materials and proposal templates.
- Territory Expansion
- Define and execute a plan to expand presence in underdeveloped regions in the US & Canada (e.g., Midwest US, Eastern Canada).
- Monitor regulatory developments and incentive programs (e.g., LCFS, IRA, Clean Fuel Standard) to identify new opportunities.
- Reporting & KPIs
- Deliver monthly reports on:
- Number of new leads generated
- Number of meetings scheduled
- Number of project opportunities created
- Pipeline value and forecast
- Conversion rates and sales cycle duration
- Set quarterly targets for client acquisition, revenue generation, and market penetration.
Your education and work experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, electrical, or renewable engineering, with knowledge of machinery and industrial processes. Knowledge in the gas industry, RNG/CNG.
- 5 years of experience in (renewable) natural gas (RNG), biogas, and/or CNG/LNG market, renewable energy markets, with, ideally, a technical and sales background
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, oral and written
- Ability to effectively discuss and present products and services to clients.
- Commercial mindset: organized and proactive hunter, creative negotiator, results-oriented, and team player.

- Ideally based in IL, IN, or WI to be able to work at our Schaumburg, IL office (North American Headquarters) or a work-from-home position with frequent travel (up to 75%),
