Area Sales Manager – Midwest

The role:
On behalf of our client we are looking for a Area Sales Manager responsible of increasing the sales revenue in medium and larger clientele. This is a strategic role covering Northern MidWest States of: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska , North and South Dakota. The candidate must reside either in Minnesota or in Wisconsin and will be working from his home office. 70-80% of traveling in the region is expected. The Area Manager will be supported by the District Sales Manager and Product Manager throughout the sales cycle.
The candidate:
The ideal candidate is an experienced and passionate technical sales professional with a background in selling industrial equipment. Someone with a hunter mentality, a go-getter that possesses good initiative, strong teamwork abilities, a strategic approach, and is solution-driven. The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills and the ability to travel within the assigned territory.
Responsibilities:
- Drive new business development initiatives to expand market presence and customer base.
- Upon demonstrating strong performance, assume responsibility for managing and growing key strategic accounts.
- Responsible for supporting distributor sales efforts and training distributors on the client’s products.
- Responsible for managing the marketing plan to meet the sales and profit objectives through direct and indirect sales efforts.
- Assesses competitive landscape to identify new markets, channels and products that will add significant top-line growth and bottom-line profitability.
- Develop relationships with Product Sales Managers to facilitate the understanding of customer applications and provide solutions to meet client needs and ROI objectives.
- Translate critical and complex opportunities into actionable plans and provide oversight to ensure plans are implemented.
- Works cross-functionally to expand and nurture a culture of growth and innovation.
- Update CRM system weekly and submit sales activity reports to the District Sales Manager.
Professional background:
- A minimum of three years’ demonstrated experience in industrial machinery and/or capital equipment sales. Advanced knowledge of the wood-working and manufacturing industries is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success in increasing sales goals within an assigned territory or accounts.
- Technical understanding of CNC industrial equipment, electro-mechanical concepts, and industrial production lines and machining applications.
- Must have excellent communication skills verbally and in writing and the ability to translate concepts into effective customer presentations.
- Goal-oriented, solution-driven, and able to flawlessly translate strategic plans into actionable tactical strategies to achieve business objectives.
- Background working with a dealer network is a plus.
- A college degree preferred or equivalent years of experience in the industry.
