Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to manage the accounting and tax functions of our client based in Chicago. This role ensures full compliance with U.S. regulations and international accounting standards while maintaining accurate financial records and overseeing warehouse-related accounting transactions. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, in-depth accounting knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy of general accounting records in compliance with US GAAP.
  • Oversee accounts receivable/payable cycles, account reconciliations, and monthly/year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and submit annual financial statements.
  • Monitor and manage accounting for monthly warehouse transactions, including inventory inflows, outflows, and valuation.
  • Investigate and reconcile discrepancies between accounting records and physical inventory.
  • Support warehouse cost management and inventory valuation analysis.
  • Ensure proper application and compliance with local tax regulations (e.g., VAT, sales tax, income tax).
  • Coordinate and manage tax filings, working closely with external tax consultants.
  • Deliver accurate and timely financial closings and reporting.
  • Prepare management financial reports with performance analysis and forecasting.
  • Oversee cash flow and forecasting processes.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities and third-party relationships.
  • Maintain and organize accounting and contractual documentation.
  • Support compliance with regulatory and administrative obligations.
Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, ideally in international or multi-entity environments.
  • Strong knowledge and application of US GAAP and IFRS (preferred).
  • Proven experience in warehouse accounting and inventory management.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting, tax compliance, and cash management.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Excel (pivot tables, VLookup).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and financial software (preferred).
