We are currently recruiting a Service Maintenance Engineer for our client based in Atlanta, GA (other cities in the South to be considered). This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tech with a proven track record in troubleshooting complex automated material handling systems.

Job description:

In the role, you will utilize your technical experience w/Automated Material Handling installations incl. mechanical & electrical equipment, PLCs programming, drives & controls to maintain and troubleshoot multi-million-dollar material handling systems and solutions installed at clients’ locations across the US and Canada. Two main working locations will be at a Tier-1 logistics company of Mercedes-Benz, based in Vance, AL and the Service Center based in Roswell, GA.

Your extensive knowledge of automated material handling systems such as AS/RS, electrical & mechanical subsystems as well as your excellent interpersonal communication skills will help you immensely in this successful long-term customer support, services and maintenance position.


  • On-site maintenance and services for clients in Automotive, Logistics and F&B across the US (some in Canada) – equipment include mechanical & electrical subsystems, ASRS, drives & control technology, PLCs (Siemens S7, Simatic, others)
  • Perform troubleshooting of technical issues with the support of the Service Desk
  • Read & interpret electrical & mechanical plans and/or blueprints of installations
  • Follow procedures and protocols to ensure max. uptime and quickest production downtime
  • Effectively communicate all issues with the Service Manager and Help Desk
  • Frequent interactive and courteous interaction with clients’ customers
  • Perform weeks of hands-on, on-site training w/senior technicians at customers’ sites
  • Rotate between several locations incl. Service Center in Roswell, GA, the Automotive Tier-1 client in Vance, AL and other sites across the US & Canada (shorter stays)
  • Create effective, accurate and technically correct customer presentations
  • Coordinate and lead “kick-off” meetings to transfer sold projects to the project implementation team

Candidate profile:

  • AD or BSc in Engineering or proven experience in an Engineering Technology environment
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in a maintenance or field service position dealing with automated material handling installations (AS/RS), production-lines or similar machinery
  • Able to read electrical and mechanical plans and make decisions accordingly
  • Moderate to advance knowledge of PLCs (Siemens S7, Simatic or others)
  • Moderate to advance knowledge of drives and controls technology
  • Knowledge of the prevention related to electrical and HSE risks
  • Entrepreneurial spirit who feels comfortable in a highly multicultural environment
  • Independent, trustworthy, rigorous, and dedicated
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills w/the ability to train, explain, and give formal presentations at technical and executive level
  • Travel 50-60%+ in North America
  • Current driver’s license and passport
